I’m Gabrielle A. De Vera and I am currently attending CSUSM for a degree in Biotechnology. I am the middle child in a family of five consisting of my parents, my older sister, my younger brother, and myself. While I was working on Drawing Out Genius® I felt a lot of pressure from the work, but having my friends near me gave me moral support. It felt invigorating to be putting what I learned at school into a real-life setting and I pulled through with everything I had learned. I’m thankful for all of the experiences and challenges that Charter has provided for me; I would have never been pushed past my comfort zone had I gone anywhere else.
During my time in ECHS and in college, I have noticed that there isn’t just one single area, but rather, many areas that I find myself interested in. My ambitions have shifted from art, to photography, to architecture, to diplomacy, to management and biotechnology. While it seems my interests have become more unrelated as I got older, I have found that there are two things in common between them: how I perceive beauty and how I communicate with others. Whether it was in painting or photos, I wanted to be the type of person to make amazing content. When I got around to learning Mandarin Chinese and traveled to China, I wanted to immerse myself in the culture and communicate without any difficulty. Now that I’m studying biotechnology, I enjoy seeing all the different forms of life and learning how I can help others be more productive. My goal is to work in a biomedical company and oversee productivity within the company.
